Q. What specification of PC is needed to run Optisoft Practice Management System?
A. Recommended PC Specification: Windows XP Pro or above with 2 GHz Dual Core processor and 2 GB RAM.
Microsoft Office 2003 or above. (Please note - Windows Home and Office Home Editions are not fully

Q. Can I buy the hardware direct from Optisoft?
A. Yes, Optisoft is a Hewlett Packard partner and we can supply, install and support hp hardware
throughout the UK.
Q. Can I run Optisoft on an Apple computer?
A. Yes, but you will need to use either Boot Camp or VMware Fusion, which are available from Apple.
Q. Will Optisoft run on Microsoft Windows 7?
A. Yes. Professional 32 bit.
Q. Do I need to buy all the modules?
A. No, Optisoft is a modular system, so you can buy what you need now and add modules as and when required.
Q. Do I need to buy the Optisoft software for every PC on my network?
A. No, once you have bought the modules for the main PC (Server) you only need a Workstation Licence for
each additional PC.
Q. Can I integrate Optisoft with my optical equipment?
A. Yes, Optisoft integrates to most modern optical equipment. You will find the current supported list on the
Instrument Link page. However, if your equipment is not listed, please speak to us, as we are
continually adding to it.
Q. Can I access Optisoft from another practice and from home?
A. Yes, you can set up a Virtual Private Network (VPN) which will enable you to access it from any location.
Q. What type of network should I use?
A. A standard CAT5 cable network connected through a gigabit switch with compatible network cards is what
we recommend to run Optisoft on a network.
Q. Is there a version of Optisoft for my country?
A. Optisoft has been modified to cater for different countries as and when necessary eg Ireland, Mauritius,
Portugal etc. So, ask us and we will be happy to look into it for you.
Q. How much training do I need?
A. We normally recommend one day’s training for every two modules purchased. However, it really depends
on your IT experience and we are happy to discuss and advise accordingly.
Q. How can I view PDF files?
A. If you are having trouble viewing a PDF file, you may not have a file viewer installed on your computer.
