These days, there is no need for optometrists to rely on paper records that can vary in quality and legibility. With Optisoft's OptomNotes module, the latest touch-screen technology can be used to reduce the amount of paperwork involved in the examination, while increasing the accuracy of patient records. Information from instruments such as auto-refractors, lensmeters, slit-lamps and fundus cameras can now be captured and entered automatically into the patients notes. With this information readily available for the next consultation, examination times can be significantly reduced without harming standards of patient care.
The system also includes scanning technology that makes it possible to integrate old paper-based records into the new electronic system. This means that the whole of a patients historical notes can be made available with the same ease and immediacy as newer notes created under the new Optisoft solution.
Another advantage of the solution is that all notes are recorded in a form that is digital and always legible, free from the vagaries of the handwriting of individual optometrists. Even better, every note and diagram can be traced back to its source through a logical audit trail of information.
Designed specifically to work in low-light environments and to be easy to use, the system makes an optometrists life easier and more efficient while making the patient feel reassured that their information is being accurately recorded. As part of the solution, Key Performance Indicators such as prescribing rates, average test times and non-tolerance are captured automatically for management analysis.
